Ferro Silicon

Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon, containing 15% to 90% silicon by weight. It appears as a gray, crystalline solid metal. Ferrosilicon with silicon content up to about 15% is produced in blast furnaces while high grade is produced by reducing silica (quartz) with coke in electric arc furnaces, using scrap iron as the iron source. The most common commercial grades are 15%, 45%, 75%, and 90% silicon content.

What is Ferrosilicon?

Key Applications

Silicon Steel Production: Essential for manufacturing electrical steel used in electromotors and transformer cores
Welding: Found in some electrode coatings for arc welding applications
