What is Calcium Metal Granules?

Calcium metal granules are a high-purity, granular form of metallic calcium with a typical purity of 98.5% to 99%. The granular shape offers a significant practical advantage over powder, as it is easier to handle and store while maintaining higher stability. Calcium is a highly reactive, non-toxic, silvery-white metal that is never found in its pure form in nature due to its strong reactivity with air and water.

Key Applications

Steelmaking & Metallurgy – Used as a powerful deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and dephosphorization agent. Injected into molten steel to remove impurities like oxygen and sulfur, producing the clean, high-strength steel used in construction and automotive manufacturing. It also improves the fluidity and plasticity of the steel.

Aluminum Alloys – An essential component in producing aluminum alloys for the aerospace and automotive industries, where it improves plasticity.

Chemical & Organic Synthesis – Serves as a reducing agent in organic chemistry (e.g., reducing functional groups to alcohols) and in the preparation of Grignard reagents, which are crucial intermediates in organic synthesis.

Automotive Batteries – Used as a vital alloying component with lead to create grids in modern, “maintenance-free” lead-acid car batteries; this drastically reduces water loss and self-discharge.

Reducing Agent – Widely used as a reducing agent in the manufacturing of various metals, including uranium and thorium.
